Frequently Asked Questions
Is a restaurant or a church an assembly occupancy?
Yes. Restaurants, bars and nightclubs are assembly occupancies, and so are churches, along with banquet halls, gyms and community centers. The occupant load decides much of what the building needs.
Does a bar or nightclub need fire sprinklers?
Often, depending on its size, occupant load and where it sits in the building. We determine what applies and design it.
Can you engineer a restaurant in a space that was retail?
Yes. That is a change of occupancy, and we handle the whole building review it triggers, along with the kitchen and MEP design.
Do you work with the owner's architect or designer?
Yes. We provide the structural and MEP engineering on plans drawn by others, or the full permit set.
